The independent coffee scene in Birmingham is currently on the march, and there are some incredible specialist coffee places dotted about, with a new one opening every time I look up from my phone. Whether it be an intimate specialist coffee and cake gaff, a Vietnamese coffee house, or an Indonesian coffee shop, Birmingham has plenty, and all good for their own reason. In my house, words rhyming with Marbucks, Fosta and Jero are banned.
The brunch community in Brum is in mid thrive, and some more popular brunch places are known to be so well thought of, they have queues to get in (just like some other large UK cities). I often like to mix it up, and swap from a more classic avocado and scrambled egg type gaff one week, a desi brunch the next, and then maybe something more contemporary the week after. If choice be need be.
They say you are never more than 6 feet from a greasy spoon in Birmingham. Oh wait….that's not right. Anyway, it’s something like that, and if you look, you’ll find one around almost every corner. Sometimes it’s exactly what I need, and I reckon you are just like me. If you find the right one, they can be the soul of a community, always full of rich, interesting characters. So if you want to visit some of the best independent coffee shops (and caffs) Birmingham has to offer. Read my blog posts below!
