I get excited about craft beer, real ale, speciality coffee, speciality cocktails, brunch and street food. Eating out at all types of independent venues has also been known to satisfy my hankering for a meaningful feast, so long as the food is considered and well made. Whether it be the local greasy spoon, a Michelin starred restaurant…or anything in between. Good food made well.

I also love a bit of culture, whether that’s watching an interesting one person play at the Crescent Theatre, spending a spare hour enjoying modern art at the Ikon Gallery, or watching an evening of short films.

I work during the week, but I’m often out in the evenings, and my weekends are filled with non stop food and drink exploring. Most importantly, I'm a food blogger who loves Birmingham and sharing what I find

A little bit more about me

Hey. My name is Jay and I have lived in and around Birmingham for most of my life. As a result, I have a passion for the best that Birmingham has to offer, but more recently, the exciting and evolving independent Birmingham food and drink scene. I really enjoy telling people about my experiences exploring the city.

This food and drink journey I am on has been forever, but I only started logging it in 2019, setting up an Instagram account and becoming an indirect food blogger for Birmingham. I started getting great feedback within a month or so, and the adventure has kept revealing more and more fantastic places as I keep exploring.

A local lad with a thirst for good ale and a love of coffee

If I’m not zooming around the city at a million miles an hour, you’ll probably find me propping up the bar in one of the many fine establishments in Stirchley, Kings Heath, the Jewellery Quarter or Digbeth.

I’m into a broad range of music, including electronic, funk, low fi beats, orchestral, underground indie, Disco, Breakbeat, Hip Hop, Soul. I love films by Carpenter, Rodrigez, Wes Anderson, Gilliam, Scorsese, Kubrick, Studio Ghibli.

Fun fact - my moms side of the family used to run a pub in Deritend around the turn of the 1900s. the same period as Peaky Blinders! So I am definitely Brummie through and through!
